Winston spent the majority of his life in south metro Atlanta. He is a student at the Georgia Institute of Technology studying Management. Aside from cars, he is an avid musician and writer.
No one in his family had much of a car history. His father owned an MG B long ago, but never really got into it. Winston’s interest in cars was derived in his teen years from his Playstation and a well-worn copy of Gran Turismo.
As he approached driving age, Winston wanted an S14 240SX and joined NICO to learn more about them. However, a suitable manual transmission one couldn’t be found in his area, and he was surprised with the 2001 Sentra SE that appeared in his garage one day. Knowing only the minimal history of the Sentra, he hopped online and started looking it up. He discovered his car was the last Sentra to have the SR20DE. This sparked his interest further.
After a few basic modifications, Winston decided to put together a Nissan parts bin turbo setup. After installing nearly everything, he sought the help of a local shop to finish the install. Unfortunately, this shop knew very little about what he was doing, and botched the wiring of the oxygen sensors, an error that was not discovered until another mechanic had already removed all of the turbo parts. Out of money and out of time, Winston was forced to sell the parts.
He decided that no one should have to dive into such a project without a full list of the parts needed and a description of how to go about the install, and this led him to write his first articles for NICO. Since then, he’s sought to increase his knowledge of the Sentra and help out anyone he can. 6 years of Sentra ownership passed before it was time to move on. He now drives a 2006 Mini Cooper S and is waiting for the mod bug to strike again. Nissans, however, are still his first automotive passion, and it is likely that he will soon have one again.
