Background:
Ever since I can remember, I’ve always been into sports cars. All my uncles had sports cars. As a kid, I couldn’t help but admire and have an urge to learn about them. In our family, we’ve had a variety of cars, ranging from the E36 M3, C4 vette, and an 800whp Mk4 Supra, so it wasn’t a surprise that I and all my male cousins were all gear heads.
The first car I saved up for and bought with my own money was my current 1992 240sx. I bought the car from one of my uncles who was the original owner. Since I was a young teen, I can remember my auntie telling me how “sporty” the car was in her image and how it attracted her to my uncle (they started dating around the time he purchased the car). 12 Years later, I saved up enough money and took the car off my uncle’s hand in hopes to attract women like my auntie told me it would. Of my cousins, I was the first 240sx owner (I have 2 other cousins that now also own a 240sx). Little did I know, I was picking up a car that had blown shocks, faded paint, and stickers in ridiculous locations. It was as if the image of the car I bought totally changed after it became mine. Not to mention that instead of attracting females, I attracted the opposite; JDM fan nerds.
Nicoclub.com (240sx.org) was the first online forum I’ve ever joined. And ever since I’ve joined, I’ve been hooked.
With the knowledge I gained from personal friends and Nico forums, I was able to personally work, replace, and upgrade many parts of my car, from my suspension to my engine. With the help of the regional forums (sub forum), I was able to meet and make friends with other enthusiasts that are not just owners, but people in the aftermarket industry as well (which saved me a lot of money).
Today, I’m one of the most avid 240sx enthusiasts here in SoCal. If there’s a 240sx car meet, event, or gathering here in Southern California, chances are I might be there.
