Staff Bio's >> Jared (freakonaleash1187) 350z Moderator300zx Moderator Bio: Cars I own: 1993 Nissan 300ZX N/A 1993 Infiniti J30 I was born and raised in a little town 40 minutes south of Kansas City. My first set of wheels was a seven pack of hot wheels back when I was real young. Throughout all my child ages, I have been fascinated with cars, playing with hot wheels, and collecting models. When I was little, I also dreamed of owning a Ferrari, a Ferrari F-50 in particular. When I was 13, I was eagerly waiting until I turned 14 so I could drive around with my parents. As I was 14, I was always driving everywhere I went with my parents, and when I turned 15, I recieved a hand-me-down car (a 1987 Oldsmobile Calais) and drove that to and from school and work. A couple months after I turned 15, I had the urge to own a car that I could call my own and be happy with, so I started on my search for a not-so-expensive sports car, and of course my parents didn't agree. I first started looking at Celicas, MR-2s, 3000GTs, and the likes of those cars, until one day, when I was riding with my mom, I saw the car I would fall in love with, I saw a 1990-1996 Nissan 300ZX, and I fell instantly in love. I went home that night and right away started to learn about them and soon found out that I could afford a N/A 300ZX. So thus began my search for a Z. During this search, as I was working at the airport (where I still currently work), I worked with a guy name Mike who owned a Ford Probe and one of his friends was a huge Nissan buff, Dan (240sx2nr95 on the NICO boards), which at the time I did not understand how much I would learn from him. I still remember the first time I met him in the hangar at my work and listening to everything he told me about Nissan's. I became intrigued with Nissan. After searching for about 8 months for the perfect Z, I found two of them I wanted to look at that were about 2 hours away, a black 1994 300ZX and a sapphire blue 1993 300ZX. And mind you, I was 16 at the time, so it was hell to convince my parents to let me have a sports car. But after convincing them that I could pay for this on my own, they agreed to take me to look at these 2 Zs. So with $6700 of my own cash in my hand, we set off to look at the Zs. The first Z I looked at was the black one, which looked really nice when we first pulled up to it. My dad (which has be an airplane mechanic for 20+ years) and I looked over the Z and it looked really nice. I sat down in the driver's seat and started it, and I heard a slight knock, but I decided to take it for a test drive anyways. As we got going, the speedometer did not work! So I turned around and told the sales man no. After that Z, we headed to the sapphire blue Z to check it out. As I pulled up to the guys house, I saw the Z sitting in the driveway and instantly fell in love, the $6700 cash in my hand was getting anxious to be spent. My dad and I started looking at the Z and couldn't find hardly anything wrong with it, and the guy gave us all the records he had for it. So we took it for a test drive and everything was perfect, no weird noises, no weird vibrations, nothing! Although it had 121k miles on it, it seemed like it had 60k miles. So we pulled up to the guys house and I was ready to give the guy all my $6700, but then my dad looked at me and told me to get him to go down on the price. So in the end, I paid $6200 for my 1993 Nissan 300ZX N/A with a 5 speed on April 17th, 2004. Fastfoward, with my budget constraints of being in high school and now being in college, I haven't been able to do as much to her as I have wanted, but I still have been able to keep her happy and modify her to my liking. In the time that I have had my Z, I have done: Suspension: - Stillen Sway Bars - SPL Subframe Collars - SPL Adjustable Tension Rods Power: - JWT Popcharger - HKS Turbo-tip Mufflers (done by previous owner) Cosmetic: - '99 Jspec Taillights - JDM Nippleless Headlights and Paintmatched - "GreatGonzer" Rear Glo-Panel - '99 JDM Clear Corners - JDM Shift Knob and Boots - "Nissan Fairlady Z" Sticker In February of 2006, I bought a daily driver so I didn't have to daily drive my Z anymore. My daily driver is a 1993 Infiniti J30. I am currently going to school at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, KS, getting my Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. |
