My passion for sports cars and motorsports began early.
My father, an avid enthusiast and my role model, owned both
a '64 Ferrari 330 America and a '56 Jaguar XK140.
His business was located beside a friend who restored
exotic cars, both luxury and sports. I also worked my way
through high school and college at a /Fiat/Lancia/Saab
and former British Leyland dealership. I did mostly
detailing, delivering cars, and performing
minor mechanical work. The dealers owner was very active with
SCCA and campaigned cars in both G and H production.
The racing bug officially bit me when I went to the
Skip Barber Racing school at Lime Rock. After a few years
of doing Barber events in their Formula Dodges,
a good friend of mine who owns several Audi's,
suggested we go an Audi club HPDE at Summit Point Raceway
for some fun.. I was soon invited to become an instructor,
and have been instructing for Audi for several years at a few
of the big eastern racetracks.
My family's first Nissan was my sister's Datsun 610 coupe.
My first Nissan was an '89 240SX SE that I bought new.
I kept it stock as its primary function was as a commuter.
But I eventually could not resist temptation and started taking it
to some of the Audi track events. After 190,000 miles,
and maybe 20 Audi track events without any problems,
I sold her to a fellow NICOnaut thru the NICO classified section,
where it is still running to this day. I currently have an Altima
and a 350Z . And the Z goes to the Audi events.
It's still stock, but with some encouragement from my NICO family,
I'm sure it won't stay stock for much longer.
Personal info: I'm a long-time married old fart,
with a son and 2 beagles. I feed my vice for sports cars by
working as a logistics manager for a railroad.
I feel lucky to have lived a life with so much involvement
with cars. I have enjoyed the privilege of driving/riding in so many
cars including some extremely rare and unusual ones
that it would impossible to list them.
I'm not a technical guy, but I hope to share some of my enthusiasm
for motorsports and sports cars with you all.
