Chasing a short or a continuity issue in 40+ year old wiring is often a chore, On several of our classic Datsun restorations, we’ve had great luck replacing the entire harness with an updated version from EZ Wiring. This also allows you to use relays where needed, lessening the demand on ancient switches and contacts, and ensuring adequate current to all electrical accessories. Plus, the modern mini-blade fuses are far easier to replace than the old glass fuses!
