My passion for sports cars and motorsports began early. My father, an enthusiast and role model, owned both a ’64 Ferrari 330 America and a ’56 Jaguar XK140. His business was located beside a friend who restored exotic cars, both luxury and sports. I also worked my way through high school and college at a Fiat/Lancia/Saab and former British Leyland dealership. I did mostly detailing, delivering cars, and performing minor mechanical work. The dealer owner was very active with SCCA and campaigned cars in both G and H production.
The racing bug officially bit me when I went to the Skip Barber Racing school at Lime Rock. After a few years of doing Barber events in their Formula Dodges, a good friend of mine who owns several Audi’s, suggested we go an Audi club HPDE at Summit Point Raceway for some fun.. I was soon invited to become an HPDE instructor, and have been instructing for Audi and a few other clubs for several years at some of the big eastern racetracks.
My first Nissan was an ’89 240SX SE that I bought new. I kept it stock as its primary function was a commuter. But I eventually could not resist temptation and started taking it to track events. After 190,000 miles, and maybe 20 track events without any problems, I sold her to a fellow NICOnaut thru the NICO classified section, where it is still running. I currently have an Altima and a 350Z. the Z still goes to track events, but except for a Stoptech brake upgrade, it’s still stock.
Personal info: I’m a married old fart, with a son and a beagle. I feed my passion for sports cars by working as a logistics manager.
I have enjoyed the privilege of driving/riding in so many cars over the years, including some extremely rare and unusual ones that it would impossible to list them all. I’m not a technical guy, but I hope to share some of my enthusiasm for the hobby with you all.
