Nissan Fuga Owners Meet… in Japan! (Part 3)

Pretty much all the Fuga owners had done tasteful modifications. Most had some kind of car audio/video set up, or LED lighting inside and outside the car, but nothing extreme or over the top.

After some more small talk, photo taking, coffee drinking, runs to the toilet, getting food at the convenience store, it’s decided to head to Umihotaru P.A.

Now, if you don’t know anything about Umihotaru P.A., here’s a picture to help you out. It’s about midway between Tokyo and Chiba peninsula, right in the middle of the ocean. From the Tokyo side, you get there by a 10km (6.2 mile) tunnel under the Pacific ocean’s surface. From the Chiba peninsula side, you get there by a slightly shorter bridge above the Pacific’s surface. It’s quite cool to see, actually.

Now, the fun part isn’t being at the parking area in the middle of the bay…it’s getting there.

I won’t go into a lot of detail, but I’ll be honest…observing the posted speed limits was out of the question. Of the 15 or so cars at the first parking area, the 10 of us that went to Umihotaru were well north of the range of our 180kmh speedometers.

We arrive at Umihotaru, get parked, pop some hoods, grab some coffee and start conversing about cars.

Mint takes some photos, I take some (not so good) photos. I talk to my Japanese friends, talk to my European friends, drool over the Fugas, drink some more coffee…you get the idea – Hanging out with the boys.

Here’s a picture of Minoru and me. We’ve been friends for as long as I have known my wife. He’s a good guy and a good friend of mine.

Mint then kindly takes some pictures of my car.
