Nissan Engine Designation Help

KA-24-D-E (also … SR20DET)
+ KA is the Series
+ 24 is the displacement … 2.4L in this case
+ D is the valve train layout … D = DOHC … no letter = SOHC
+ E is the fuel delivery layout … E = multiport fuel injection

VG33ER – the R designates a supercharger
SR20DET – the T designates a single turbo motor
VG30DETT – the TT designates a twin-turbo motor
Z24i – The i designates a throttle body fuel injected motor

Examples:

KA24E – SOHC 2.4L Fuel Injected
L28 – SOHC 2.8L Carbureted
SR16VE – Variable Valve Lift 1.6L Fuel Injected
MA09ERT – SOHC 0.9L Fuel Injected “Super” or Racing Turbo
SR18Di – DOHC 1.8L TBFI
