Every year, the HSR Mitty is held at Road Atlanta. And every year, Nissans are strongly represented. This year was no exception, having the largest turnout ever for Nissans. Not only were there all kinds of vintage racecars, but there were also some extremely rare show cars as well. There are three known '65 Silvias in the United States. One of them is owned by NICO's founder, Dr. Rex Birkmire. Rex brought his car to the show, and was in awe to find another '65 Silvia at the show! Two-thirds of the U.S.'s '65 Silvias together! Perhaps not as rare as a '65 Silvia, but still rare is the 2-door 810. Beautifully restored, this is what one of these rare cars looked like as it rolled out of the showroom back in '79. In addition, besides the rare cars that were there, there were some genuinely rare engine swaps as well. How about an LS1 in 280Z? Or an LD28 in a 280ZX? Well, both were there! That's right a Diesel powered 280ZX! With an insane amount of torque, and 40 mpg, who can argue? Hanging around the owners of these vehicles was an absolute blast. Just listening in on conversations throughout the day will enlighten you into a whole new world you never existed regarding Datsuns. I encourage everyone who has a remote interest in the history of Nissans, or in automobiles in general, to attend this event. You will NOT be disappointed! HSR Mitty 2006 Pictures |

| 2006 Fort Lauderdale Meet Sunday, April 2, 2006 |

Man 'o Man...do the guys in Florida now how to put on one heck of a show! This past weekend NICO visited Fort Lauderdale to attend a regional meet with insanely great success! Over 200 cars must have been present. A special thanks go to Josh from www.sfl240sx.com, as well as the many people who helped him in preparing this meet. Enough thanks can not be given! The show started with a kick when a highly modified S13 pulled in that didn't sound your like your average 240SX. Mark said "that sounds like an RB" when the guy pulled up. When he opened the hood, lo and behold, there was a tuned RB26DETT under there! And Wow! was it clean. There were many other rare cars that arrived throughout the day. Some very nice S13's, S14's, Z32's, Z33's, B14's, B15's, as well as a Pulsar GTi-R and R33 Skyline, made the show happen. As I mentioned before, there must have been over 200 cars in attendance. The great success of attendance combined with the social interaction of a bunch of Nissan enthusiasts over a BBQ lunch in the middle of a park truly made this an exciting experience. NICO hopes to spread it's involvement in regional meets further, and we look forward to working with regional websites to strengthen the Nissan community. Be sure to check out the rest of the pictures from this weekend to see what you missed out on! Fort Lauderdale Photos |
