– Cross-Country Success for Nissan Motorsports with a Win, Second and Third Place in CORR Pro-2; Third Place in WSORR PRO Light Pickup Competition –

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 22, 2007) – Nissan Motorsports-supported race trucks took multiple podiums across the country this past weekend – a win, second and third place for Carl Renezeder in his Nissan Titan-bodied Pro-2 race truck in Championship Off Road Racing (CORR) competition at the Los Angeles County Fairplex in Pomona, Calif.; and a third place finish for Chad Hord in his PRO Light Pickup Nissan Frontier-bodied race truck in the inaugural Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) Owatonna Off-Road Nationals competition at the Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna, Minn.

“This weekend’s competitions displayed again to the off-road racing community, and the world, that Nissan race trucks are a force to be reckoned with no matter which track, what series or which class they’re running in,” said Nissan Motorsports Marketing and Operations Senior Manager Ron Stukenberg.“We salute both of our star drivers, Carl Renezeder and Chad Hord, and their teams for their efforts during these two very different events.”

Race Reports

CORR
The second 2007 event for CORR – Rounds 3 and 4 – marked the first time the series has visited the Los Angeles County Fairplex.Carl Renezeder, in his Pro-2 class 715-horsepower Nissan Titan-bodied race truck, was a strong competitor throughout the event.

Saturday’s Round 3 action started with a big wreck, which required repair to the track itself.Once action was underway again, Renezeder battled for position, taking second place on lap 10 and holding it through the end of the event.

Sunday was a busy day for Renezeder and his Titan, with two races – Round 4, which counts towards year-end championship points, and the “Jason Baldwin Memorial Cup” race, a non-points, money-only event. For Round 4, Renezeder took the lead until the mandatory half-way caution period. After the green flag flew again, Renezeder diced it up with other trucks and finished in third place. The “Baldwin Cup” race requires a qualifying procedure, which unfortunately meant Renezeder was to start last. However, once the race started, Renezeder carved up the field and won the race.

The CORR race will be broadcast on NBC on Sunday, May 27th at 2:00 p.m. EST.(check local listings)

WSORR
Rounds 1 and 2 of the inaugural WSORR season started off with much excitement at the one-mile track at Steele County Fairgrounds in Owatonna, Minn.Chad Hord debuted his all-new 310-horsepower Nissan Frontier-bodied race truck for Hord in the PRO Light Pickup division.

Saturday was a tough way to start the season for Hord.In the first-ever race for the truck and the series, Hord jumped out to a substantial lead until a racing wheel broke – which led to an off-jump, end-over-end accident, totaling the new vehicle.

With his new truck destroyed, Hord brought out his backup vehicle for Sunday’s Round 2 event, the 2006 championship-winning Frontier-bodied race truck.Despite having to start at the back of the field due to the Round 1 crash, Hord sliced through traffic and battled mightily for second place, but lost it at the finish line by a truck-length, ending up third.
