For many people, owning a car is a big responsibility. It’s important that owners get the oil changed, clean their car, put the right gas in, and keep the tires at an appropriate level in order to get the most out of the vehicle. Taking charge of this responsibility requires that you know exactly what needs to be done. If you’re a new Nissan or Infiniti owner, there are a few different things that you should do in order to get the most out of your vehicle and your driving experience:

1. Get to Know the Warranty
Car warranties often differ from one manufacturer to another. When you buy a Nissan or Infiniti, you want to know what is covered by the warranty and what isn’t. Getting to know the warranty is a necessity in helping you take the best care of your car possible. For example, most Nissans have a 36-month or 36,000-mile limited vehicle coverage. This is the basic warranty that goes lasts for either 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever one happens first. This basic coverage can be used to pay for repairs that are needed due to defective materials or workmanship. There may be a few exclusions depending on the model that you own. Another warranty, covering the powertrain, is typically 5 years or 60,000-miles. Additional warranties cover emissions equipment and safety equipment, so be sure to read your new car warranty booklet!

2. Become Familiar with NissanConnect
NissanConnect is an assimilated navigation, audio and communication system that can be entirely connected to your smartphone. Many drivers find that it can enhance their driving experience while reducing phone-related distractions. In order to best use your vehicle, you should become familiar with these technologies. They will help you have a safe, functional driving experience – and your dealer representative is usually more than happy to walk you through the features and help you set up the system for all drivers.

3. Go to Authorized Mechanics
In addition to the dealership where you bought your car, certain maintenance shops employ authorized Nissan mechanics. They will know how to treat your car. They will be able to provide you with better service and quicker troubleshooting. Not only will the mechanics know what they’re doing, but they will also have access to authentic Nissan parts.

4. Get the Right Insurance
Car owners everywhere need to get the right insurance, so that they have less to worry about in their life. For Nissan owners the right car insurance will likely include liability insurance, collision coverage, personal damage, gap insurance, or underinsured motorist coverage. What you need will depend on your vehicle, where you live, and what you can afford. Talk with an insurance provider today to learn more about what kind of coverage you need as a new Nissan or Infiniti owner.

5. Use the Suggested Oil
Finally, Nissan owners should know what kind of oil their car requires. A quick review of the 2015 and 2016 Nissan Factory Service Manuals suggests that most new Nissans use 5W-30 synthetic oil. Using the right oil and getting regular oil changes will ensure that your engine won’t get sludge buildup, will increase fuel economy, preserve your warranty, and ensure your new car will last longer and run better.

Treating Your Vehicle Right
In order to get the most out of your vehicle, you have to treat it right. You have to get the repairs done by knowledgeable mechanics. You should use the right oil and hands-free tools. You should also make sure that you have the best insurance for your vehicle and your situation. As a Nissan owner, you want to make sure to get the most out of your vehicle. You can do that by becoming familiar with the warranties available, the technology included, the insurance you should have, and the oil you should use.
