HOW TO: Repaint Headlight Housing (Black)

Overview:

Plastic used in decorative and protective trim fades over time. Chances are, your s13 or possibly even s14 has had some issues with these pieces including exterior window trim, headlight shrouds, wiper arms etc… Restoring them to their factory black shine has been made easy by the variety of cleaning, polishing and paint products on the market today.

Difficulty: *

Time: 1 hour or less

Cost: Less than $20

Tools:

– Phillips head screwdriver

Materials:

– plastic and vinyl conditioner
– auto spray paint of your choice (Duplicolor makes high-performance paints that work very well in this application!)
– rags
– sandpaper

Procedure:

*NOTE* As an example, the headlight covers have been used for this article. More methods and parts to follow.

Before pic:

Evenly sand the surface to prep for new paint.

Spray in smooth, even strokes 6-8 inches from the target.
