Conversions: What do I need?

Overview:

A lot of people want to convert their 240sx using body panels and trim pieces from JDM cars. Some conversions simply bolt-on and some require finesse that a skilled body tech should provide to look 100% correct. Here’s a guide to the parts required and some insight into the processes involved for the more popular conversions.

S13 240sx to s13 Silvia Conversion

Parts Required:

– Fenders, OEM metal pieces or FRP aftermarket
– Hood, OEM metal or FRP aftermarket
– Headlights, dual-halogen, dual projectors or triple projectors
– Headlight brackets
– Corner lights
– Front bumper cover, OEM or aftermarket

Optional Parts:

– Bumper support
– OEM Sideskirts and various other aero pieces
– Badging
– Trunk lock set

Procedure:

All bolt-on parts, no other fabrication should be necessary.

S13 240sx Fastback to “SilFourty” Conversion

Parts Required:

– *see above*

Optional Parts:

– SilEighty quarter glass
– OEM Kouki 180sx taillights and SilEighty center garnish
– OEM sideskirts and other aero pieces

Procedure:

Bolt-on.

S13 240sx Fastback to S13 180sx Kouki or “Type X” Conversion

Parts Required:

– Kouki 180sx bumper or reproduction
– Kouki 180sx taillights and center garnish
– Kouki 180sx bumper lights and turn signals

Optional Parts:

– Kouki 180sx quarter glass
– “Type X” sideskirts
– “Type X” rear spoiler
– “Type X” bumper

Procedure:

Same as above except for optional quarter glass pieces, these should be removed and replaced professionally to avoid problems with faulty seals.

S13 240sx to Kouki/Zenki S14 240sx/Silvia Conversion

Required Parts:

– Fenders
– Hood
– Headlights
– Headlight brackets, OEM or custom
– Bumper
– Grille

Optional Parts:

– SE trim options
– JDM trim options

Procedure:

Mostly bolt-on, since the S14 hood and fenders are slightly wider than the S13 parts, some adjustment or body work may be necessary in certain cases.

S13, S14 240sx to S15 Silvia Conversion

Required Parts:

– Fenders, OEM or made for conversion
– Hood
– Lights and brackets
– Radiator Support
– Bumper

Procedure:

This requires extensive bodywork, even when using the fenders specially made for the conversion.

S13, S14 240sx to R32, R33, R34 Skyline Conversion

Required Parts:

– Fenders
– Hood
– Bumper
– Lights and brackets
– Radiator support

Optional Parts:

– Taillights and trim
– Rear fenders
– Emblems

Procedure:

Skylines are shorter and wider in front of the A-pillar. Bodywork will be required to properly fit panels onto the S-Chassis.

S14 240sx Zenki to S14 240sx Kouki Conversion

Required Parts:

– Fenders
– Hood
– Bumper
– Lights
– Taillights
– Grille

Optional Parts:

– OEM lip
– OEM foglights

Procedure:

Bolt-on parts.

S14 240sx Zenki or Kouki to S14 Silvia Zenki or Kouki


Required Parts:

– Bumper
– Lights
– Lip
– Sideskirts
– Emblems

Procedure:

Bolt-on parts.

S13 240sx, 180sx, Silvia to A31 Cefiro Conversion


Required Parts:

– Fenders
– Hood
– Bumper
– Lights
– Grille

Optional Parts:

– Taillights

Procedure:

Adjustment and bodywork required to fit these parts to an S-chassis.

S13 240sx, Silvia Convertible to Y33 ???


Required Parts:

– ???

Procedure:

– Extensive bodywork required.
