1990 Nissan Silvia : NICOclub Ride of the Month | rexhunta

1990 Nissan Silvia Owned by : rexhunta

1990 Nissan “E-KS13” Silvia Q’s painted in Bluish Silver 2 tone. Started life in Japan as a Non-turbo, Automatic CA18DE. Oh the joys that would have been. When it got here to Australia, the original owner had the engine and gearbox changed to a CA18DET with a 5 speed manual transmission. That is how is picked up the car.  Since then, I’ve swapped everything, including rear subframes, and now it’s a great street car, with a passion for the track.

This car is my everyday driver, yes i loath coilovers for the rest of my life now, but the car is just so fun to drive, and i wouldn’t ever have anything else but it.

As usual, it is not finished, have just ordered a Vertex bodykit, which when all painted and fitted, you’ll get first pictures of. Reason why i have done everything else first, is that i believe that getting somewhere safely, is better then getting there in style.

When i started building this car, i didn’t go all out hp first, i took the time to think over what mods will be necessary to make the car handle, and brake.. So first stop was the Series 2 Calipers and Rotors ( which are larger then the series 1). I then started working on the suspension, as I’d rather handle then go fast.. Everything trickled in so fast with these mods, it was unbelievable, by the 2nd day of owning the car i had the strut braces and the coilovers on order.. After Suspension i started on some light hp work..

I first went off to the dyno and had a look at what condition everything was in.. fair to say, it sucked. The original owner didn’t even think about changing the fuel pump from the NA to Turbo !! it made 147rwhp, and that was coughing it guts up and jerking.. So in went GTR Injectors and Walbro fuel pump to sort all that out,and an original SAFC to calm some of the fuel crisis..

Safe to say, i made my 171rwhp on a very safe tune, still running under 12.5 air/fuel mixtures !! so if it was leaned out, and set up with a proper boost controller, the car would easily pop 190-200.. which one day will be a goal.

Thank you guys for a great site, i have learnt so much off it, i generally sit in the 240sx/Silvia section, but occasionally come out into General.. NeedCAforS13, The Mad Scientist and Dee are all great mods, and always help so much.. great guys.

Thanks heaps !

Peter Elrick
