Do it Yourself CVT Knob Removal and Bulb Replacement

December 10, 2009 by admin

Overview: This DIY is to help Remove the shift knob on a CVT and replace the 194 Bulb with a 194 LED bulb

Difficulty: 1

Time: 15 minutes

Cost: $5

Materials: 194 LED bulb

Tools:  flat screwdriver, rag

Procedure

First step is to pull down with a firm grip on the little chrome looking plastic piece until it falls down… if it is hard to get ( like mine was) I used a flat head screwdriver wrapped in a microfiber cloth to prevent scratching and pried it down.

then remove the little silver retaining pin

and put it somewhere where it will not be lost.

and then you can just pull up on the shifter and the knob will slide right off.

I moved the car into N so that i can get some more room to move the trim piece around and then just pull up and towards the front of the car

and

and then after you replace the light you are done…..just remember to put the chrome trim piece back on before you put the shifter on andmake sure that its the right way.
