In this article we will be painting a set a Altima Coupe taillights. This is an alternative to using vinyl overlays as it is easier to apply and slightly more permanent.

Time Required~1-1 1/2 Hours (Depending on curing time)
Light Stencil is available from altimacoupe.com for this project if needed.
Recommended paint
It is called Pactra Racing Finish and the color is RC294 window tint. I also used a clear coat called Tamiya Color for plastics. The color code is TS-13.
Note: If you want a glossy look, you do not need the clear coat. If you want more of a matte color, use the clear coat.
Tools Required
If you want to leave your turn signals clear, you will need
-Tracing paper
-Compass (an art compass, not a directional compass)
-Cardboard paper
-Double sided tape
-Scissors or razor blade
First you will need to remove your tail lights.
Altima Coupe Taillight Removal
1. Place the tracing paper over the turn signal, then place the point of the compass in the middle of the turn signal. Adjust the size and make sure it lines up with the edge all the way around. Once you have the proper line drawn, remove the tracing paper.
2. Place the tracing paper over the card board paper and cut out the circle. Now place the card board cut out over your turn signal and check for fit.
3. Now that you have your stencil, cover the bottom with double sided tape. You want to cover the whole bottom so there is a seal and paint doesn’t drip onto your turn signals. Cut the excess tape off, so the tape is flush with the cut out. Now place the cut out over the turn signal.
4. Spray the first coat of tinting paint on. Spay easily and take your time. Hold the can 10-12″s away to avoid dripping. And leave the coat light. After applying the first coat, let the light dry for at least 15 min. Then repeat. I did 3 coats, and my lights came out pretty dark.
5. If you want more of a matte look, spray an additional 3 coats of clear coat. Then let it dry at least 30 min before removing your turn signal stencils
Note: If you mess up, or get a ticket, don’t worry. This paint can be removed with nail polish remover and some scrubbing.
