1. Remove shifter surround
2. Remove shifter
3. Undo driveshaft nuts (14mm ratchet ring spanner)
4. Disconnect electrical connections at gearbox
5. Remove clutch slave cylinder (14 mm)….

The original thread from the Mopar forums has been around long enough for this technique to have been applied with varying results to several other types of cars. While it can create a smoother, more even finish than rattlecans and can last longer than the typical $250 job that Maaco offers, the results are entirely dependent on the amount of time you devote to the job.

Overheating seems to be a fairly common issue with the 240sx, often it is the result of a poorly maintained system rather than any flaw in the design or manufacturing. You can use your FSM to troubleshoot and diagnose any problems, there are also illustrated walkthroughs and tq. settings to supplement this (admittedly simple by comparison) writeup. This writeup covers the system removal and replacement in its entirety, how much of this you need is up to you.
